This editorial by the Los Padres Sierra Club provides information about the withdrawal of projects from Cat Canyon in Santa Barbara Country. Cat Canyon Oil Field sought to create three more steam injection projects that would have created over 760 new wells, which would have impacted the county’s air and climate. While oil expansion in Santa Barbara county would seem to be a historical fight, especially given its history of spills and decades of calling for decommission, it is still an important and pressing issue today. There are still battles to fight, and hopefully like this article describes, to win.
